Midas Expand E-Paper Range

  Published: 25/07/2019

Midas Displays are pleased to announce that we have added two new colour options to our range of E-Paper (E-Ink) displays. This technology features ultra-low power consumption, exceptional viewing angles, on an ultra-thin display.

One is bi-colour, yellow and black ink with a white background, resulting in three colour options being available on each size: white, black and yellow. The other is black ink, on a white background, resulting in two colour options.

These new displays are available in the same sizes as our existing red, black, and white E-Paper: 1.54”, 2.1”, 2.9”, 4.2”, and 7.5”. All modules feature an SPI interface, and come with a standard 24-way connector, 0.5mm pitch, FFC.

Ben Halpin, Marketing Manager, Midas Displays said “We have been really pleased with the level of interest that our E-Paper product has received since we introduced them in 2018. These displays have experienced a good level of sales both directly from Midas, and through our distribution partner, Farnell. We have been particularly impressed with the attention that our E-Paper demos have been receiving at exhibitions, especially from Retail and Transportation customers. These new colours will give customers the option of using yellow rather than red, or allow customers to experience a faster refresh rate with the black and white modules. We expect the two new colour options to enhance the strong demand for this range of products.”

Bi-stable technology allows E-Paper displays to retain an image after power is turned off, further power would only be required when the image needs to be refreshed. This technology makes these displays ideal for applications where the display message rarely changes. Examples of industries where this technology would be beneficial are, but not limited to: automotive, retail, transportation & hospitality. E-Paper particularly suits applications that involve signage, as the information may not change regularly. Shelf edge labelling is a great example, with products unlikely to change in price or information on a regular basis.

RGB LCDs are a cost effective solution for using colours, as well as text, to show system status. We will have many of these display demo's on show at our exhibitions this year, including our next one at @IFSEC in May. https://t.co/QzGScqnm82 #RGBLCD #DisplaySolution
